  1. Full and half marathon runners will be divided into 5 male and 4 female sub-divisions by year of birth.
  2. Runners of recreational and family divisions are divided into male and female sub-divisions.
  3. The following minimum age restrictions apply: full marathon – age of 16, half marathon - age of 14, and recreational division – age of 8. Runners under age of 18 are required to present parent consent form when enrolling. Please specify the correct date of birth to for proper division allocation. The organizer may disqualify runner and forfeit enrollment fees for any false information provided at enrollment that leads to incorrect race result.
  4. There is no age restriction for the family division; children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by parent or teacher.
  5. Enrollment requirements for junior division and senior high division:
    (1) The runner must be an existing elementary, junior high or senior high student.
    (2) The name of school must be specified.
    (3) Runners must bring student ID or proof of status (with photo) for inspection at the race.

Runners may park vehicles at Shulintou Night Market (Section 2 Dongda Road, North District, Hsinchu City). Complimentary shuttle service will be arranged to take runners to the event venue (intersection of Section 4 Dongda Road/Rongbin Road).

※Performance results will be captured automatically using timing mat instead of manual record. Runners that miss the mat or begin run early will have performance results voided. Timing mat will be removed 10 minutes after the starting time; runners that start more than 10 minutes after may be denied entry or have results voided due to safety reasons.

13. Enrollment:

(1) Enrollment time: from 12:00, November 1st to 12:00, November 30th or upon reaching full quota.

(2) All enrollments must be submitted online. Runners may choose to enroll individually or as a group (2 and above) online.

(3) Payment:

  1. Payment at convenience store: After inputting enrollment details, select convenient store for the payment option to receive a 16-digit barcode in the format of "NWxxxxxxxxxxxxxx." Present this barcode and make payment at one of the four main convenience store chains nationwide in the next 3 days to complete the enrollment process. For more details on the convenience store payment process, please visit the "Payment" page. (Be reminded that convenience stores charge a fee of NT$30 for every NT$20,000 of payment or part thereof). The barcode will be voided and become unavailable for payment at a convenience store if not used past the expiry date. To make payment after barcode expiry, go to iRunner, select 2020 Hsinchu City Marathon, click on [Inquire/Modify Order] and input your order number along with ID card number of the team leader to generate a new payment barcode, which still has a 3-day expiry. Participants may generate up to two additional payment barcodes at the most. If all barcodes expire, the order will be canceled and the participant will not be able to extend payment any further. Do pay close attention to payment to avoid disqualification.
  2. Payment with credit card: After inputting enrollment details, select credit card for the payment option, which is subject to an additional 3% processing fee. Once you have submitted your order, click on "Proceed to payment" to enter your credit card number and expiry. If you input enrollment details but exit the payment page for a later date, please visit iRunner, select 2020 Hsinchu City Marathon, click on Inquire/Modify Order located on the left hand side, input order number along with ID card number of the team leader to go into the order details page, and click on "Proceed to payment" to complete payment.

(4) Parent consent form: Runners under 18 years old are required to present parent consent form when enrolling, regardless of the division. Please download, complete and mail the form to: service@irunner.com.tw. Click here to download parent consent form.

(5) Fees: Full marathon - NT$1,200; super half marathon - NT$1,000; recreational division - NT$800; family division - NT$650

The race uses chips for time recording; a deposit of NT$100 will be collected upfront and is refundable after the race.

(6) Assembly tents will be provided for groups (those that enroll in a single submission) of 50 and above; however, due to space limitations, the limited number of tents (currently 30) will be allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis.

(7) Runners who have completed the enrollment and payment process will no longer be able to modify enrollment details. Please verify the correctness of enrollment details before proceeding to payment, and check whether your payment is successful on the enrollment webpage.

(8) Once the enrollment process has been completed, no further changes can be made to runner's name, the race division or singlet size under any circumstances.

(9) Refund: Refund of group enrollment has to be raised by the team leader (requests made by non-leaders are not accepted). Please go to the refund page and provide details including bank name, bank ID, branch name, account number and account name.

Requests made on or before December 5th will be entitled to full refund net of NT$200 processing fee + NT$30 cable charge.

Requests made on or before December 15th will be entitled to a refund of 70% the amount paid, net of NT$200 processing fee + NT$30 cable charge.

No refund will be requested on and after December 16th.

All refunds will be paid back into the specified account on February 20th, 2020.

(10) If payment is not made in time, the system will cancel your order and accept the next application in line without exception.

14. Race pack collection:

1. Collection by mail

Collection by mail: The organizer will mail out all race packs one week before the race. Do make sure to provide the correct mailing address and avoid using P.O. box so that the package may reach you as intended. No separate return slip will be mailed. Please pay race pack mailing charges at the time of enrollment.

2. On-site race pack collection for general runners

Remarks: Foreigners are required to present passport when collecting race pack.

Notes on race pack collection:

★ There will be no collection of race pack on the race day.

★ Please maintain proper custody of the collected chip and bib, as there will be no replacement if lost.

★ Make sure to verify details (e.g. race division) of the collected race pack, and report any errors on-site for correction.

★ Please pay close attention to package delivery and check the website (http://lddmap.com.tw/) during the delivery period. If you do not receive your race pack by noon on February 20th, 2020, please send a message to the Hsinchu City Marathon LINE account (http://nav.cx/3iwZM31). No second delivery will be arranged if the package is not received due to incorrect mailing address or absence of recipient. You may track unreceived package until 18:00 on February 20th, 2020; any uncollected items past that time will be disposed.

★ Runners who are unable to participate in the race in person may visit Department of Education, Hsinchu City Government, within 5 days after the race (during office hours 09:00~17:00) to collect door gifts (forfeited if not collected past the due day).

15. Rewards: All applicants that complete the enrollment process will be entitled to receive one commemorative shirt.

★ Prizes for full marathon division (overall ranking, male and female)

Top 3 runners (male and female) in the overall ranking of full/super half marathon divisions will each receive a pair of BROOKS running shoes

The 4th to 10th ranking runners will each receive a prize or trophy.

2. Group prizes for full marathon and super half marathon divisions:

For each division, the organizer will reward top-3 runners from groups of 50 or less, or top-5 runners from groups of 51~100, top-8 runners from groups of 101~200, and top-10 runners from groups of 201 and above with "Group Victory Trophy" based on ranking shown on the race completion certificate. (Which is ranked based on overall completion time, or time recorded at finish line; runners who miss any checkpoint will not be ranked)

3. For recreational and family divisions, the overall top-10 runners (male and female) will be given prizes and trophies.

4. No group prize is given to recreational and family divisions!

5. For junior and senior high divisions, the top-3 runners (male and female) will each be presented with a trophy, whereas the top-10 runners will each receive a commendation.

6. First-time full/half marathon runners: Runners who complete their first full marathon (42.195K) or half marathon at this event may choose to collect a custom-name trophy at NT$790. Runners who do not intend to collect (or do not make payment) need not register. Please collect the trophy on-site; the organizer will neither mail nor refund uncollected trophies.

※ Please register for your first-time full/half marathon trophy at the time of enrollment, and collect from the rewards section on the day of the event by presenting your bib.

7. Performance trophies, race completion trophies, medals and first-time full/half marathon trophies are to be collected on-site on the day of event. Uncollected trophies will be retained for one week after the race and forfeited thereafter if uncollected. For post-race trophy collection, please submit all inquiries to the Hsinchu City Marathon LINE account (http://nav.cx/3iwZM31) (service hours: 08:30~17:00).

8. Race completion rewards: Runners who complete the race within the designated time (full marathon - 6 hours, super half marathon - 4 hours, recreational division - 2 hours, and family division - 75 minutes) may receive a performance certificate, a completion medal, one towel and one set of door gifts. Runners who do not complete the race are not entitled to the above. After passing the finish line, make your way to the gift section to collect the above and have your bib marked for collection. Runners who leave the gift section without collecting may collect afterwards by presenting the race completion certificate and an unmarked bib.

※ The performance certificate is issued immediately upon completion of race; make sure to collect yours on-site, as no replacement will be mailed. (If performance certificate cannot be printed on-site due to a machine malfunction, the organizer will mail the certificate instead within one month after the race.) Race results will be published on website within one week after the race.

※ This competition uses professional-grade chips to time runners' performance. Visit the race portal for user instructions. Chip time is for personal reference only; the organizer will reward runners based on official time records.

※ Time shown on performance certificate will be marked as "indicative" if the runner misses a checkpoint.

16. Important notes:

1. The race will progress on open roads, and traffic control arrangements may change depending on the prevailing condition. All runners are reminded to stay within the safe zone, obey instructions of the police and volunteer traffic controllers, and pay attention to safety at all times. Stop immediately and seek help from the nearest staff if you feel any discomfort. Medical volunteers will be patrolling the race route throughout the event.

2. No performance ranking or record will be given to runners who reach the finish line without a bib, a complete time record (including start, checkpoint and finish line) or a return token, or fail to complete the run within the designated time. These runners will not be entitled to receive completion medal and performance certificate. The organizer may also create a separate lane for runners who run without a bib or token, and ask them to remove chip for the purpose of maintaining order and race quality. We would like all runners to accommodate such request when instructed.

3. After passing the finish line, please follow directions to: (1) Collect your completion medal, (2) Collect your gift set, (3) Collect your completion certificate, and (4) Return chip.

4. The organizer will announce winning runners of each division on-site. If you have any dispute regarding the published results, you may request for an examination by placing a deposit of NT$1,000 with the service station within the next 30 minutes. No late request will be accepted. Official race result for all runners will be published on the organizer's website within 7 days.

5. A storage area will be made available for runners to place personal items. Stored items can be collected after the event (before 13:00) by presenting bib. However, runners are advised to keep valuables with them at all times, as the organizer will not be held liable for any losses.

6. Notes on public liability insurance:

The organizer will only provide emergency medical assistance on-site, which does not cover conditions caused by pre-existing illnesses. Public liability insurance only compensates accidental injuries. Participating runners of this event will be covered by public liability insurance for up to NT$5 million per person. (Subject to the terms and conditions of the underlying insurance contract)

Coverage of public liability insurance:

■ Insurance Company will compensate the Insured Party if any of the following accidents occur during the period of coverage that renders the Insured Party legally liable to compensate the injury, death or loss of property suffered by a third party:(1) Accident occurring anywhere along the race route specified in the insurance policy while running; and (2) Accident caused by building, tunnel, machinery or other working instrument along the race route.

7. This event will have to be postponed if the Central Weather Bureau issues an onshore Typhoon warning or if any major disaster is reported. The organizer shall announce the postponement over the race portal, Facebook and www.taipeimarathon.org.tw by no later than two mornings before the race date. Event shall be postponed only to a Saturday or Sunday within the next month.

★ In the event that the race is canceled before the scheduled date due to force majeure: (1) If door gifts have already been prepared, they will be mailed to participants whereas enrollment fees are refunded after deducting gift preparation costs, wire transfer charges and system charges; (2) If door gifts have not been prepared, the organizer will refund enrollment fees net of wire transfer charges and system charges.

8. Participants agree that the organizer may display event-related videos, photos and results anywhere including the race website and publications. All participants agree to have portrait, name and race results used in various promotional activities.

9. The organizer reserves the right to amend the rules stated herein. Refer to announcements made on the race day for the latest update.

◆ It is imperative that you provide correct details in every field of the enrollment form, as errors or omissions may void insurance coverage and put you at risk of accident.

◆ Runners are advised to pace themselves according to their physical conditions on the race day, sleep for adequate hours one night before, and have breakfast 2 hours before the run.

■ Insurance-related disclosures:

  1. Participants of this event will be covered by public liability insurance for up to NT$5 million per person. (Subject to the terms and conditions of the underlying insurance contract) Coverage of the public liability insurance: Insurance Company will compensate the Insured Party if any of the following accidents occur during the period of coverage that renders the Insured Party legally liable to compensate the injury, death or loss of property suffered by a third party: (1) Accident occurring at the place of business specified in the insurance policy as a result of business activities conducted by the Insured Party or its employees. (2) Accident caused by building, passage, machinery or other working instrument relating to the Insured Party's business activities.
  2. Special exclusions: (1) Sports injuries caused by personal illness. (2) Symptoms that are unique to a particular individual or are cardiovascular-related, such as shock, heart attack, diabetes, heat exhaustion, heat stroke, altitude sickness, epilepsy, dehydration etc. Conditions caused by pre-existing illness are not covered; public liability insurance only compensates injuries suffered as a result of accident.
  3. Runners who have any history of the diseases mentioned in Paragraph 2 are advised to take safety precautions and purchase personal accident insurance at their own expense.

※ You may be prone to high risk of sudden cardiac death if you have ever experienced the following symptoms or conditions. Please consult a physician before participating in the event.

  1. Chest discomfort of unknown cause; 2. Difficulty in breathing of unknown cause; 3. Dizziness of unknown cause; 4. Sudden loss of cognitive function; 5. Hypertension (>140/90mmHg); 6. Heart disease; 7. Loss of kidney function; 8. Diabetes; 9. High cholesterol (total cholesterol>240mg/Dl); 10. History of heart disease within the family (any 1st-degree relative having suffered or died from heart disease before the age of 60); 11. Epilepsy; 12. Recent flu symptom

 

※ Prohibited conducts:

The organizer will prepare a montage of race images for each participant. Simply access the free result inquiry system (for detailed instructions, click on the "Result Inquiry" tab located on the top-right corner of the enrollment website) to view and download. Violations such as running on other's behalf or wearing two chips are easily discovered and reported. The organizer may disqualify winning runners using recorded video as evidence, and recover any trophy or prize awarded while at the same time announce violator's name and footage.

  1. Runners who commit any of the following violations will be disqualified and have race result voided.

Disqualified runners will be ordered to remove chip immediately to avoid disruption to time record and ranking at the finish line.

  1. Chip swapping, wearing chip of another runner and wearing two chips at the same time are strictly prohibited. Violators will be disqualified and have all race results voided without exception.
  2. The starting point is located on an open road, therefore it is imperative for runners to start on time. Timing mat will be removed 10 minutes after the starting time; runners that start more than 10 minutes after may be denied entry or have results voided due to safety reasons.
  3. Runners will be solely responsible for not tying the chip properly to shoelaces (do not use metal harness of any kind) or missing check point.
  4. Performance results will be captured automatically using timing mat instead of manual record. Runners are required to start at allocated times of their respective divisions. Runners that begin run early will have performance results voided.
  5. Disobedience of referee's instruction.
  6. Not retrieving the return token, which is considered forfeiture of the race.
  7. Improper wearing of the bib that prevents system from identifying the runner. In which case, the referee will prohibit the runner from entering the final 30m before the finish line.
  8. Runners who commit any of the following violations will have will be disqualified and banned from the organizer's events for one year
  9. Achieving material gains with the help of others (e.g. car ride, carrying etc.).
  10. Enrollment to a division that does not match runner's identity proof.
  11. Impersonation of the real applicant.
  12. Exhibition of poor sportsmanship (such as fighting, insult to referee or staff……).
  13. It is strictly prohibited to have a non-participant run in place of a participant. Video footages at each checkpoint are openly accessible, and if a violation is proven to be true, performance result from the current race will be considered void, and both the runner and the applicant will be banned from subsequent competitions for one year and have names and portraits disclosed online.
  14. Applicants that enroll or transfer entry without the organizer's consent will not be covered by insurance and may be held responsible for legal liabilities if accident occurs.
  15. Personal information and portrait right-related

Organizer of Hsinchu City Marathon is bound by Paragraph 1, Article 8 of Personal Information Protection Act to notify you of the following:

  1. Purpose for gathering information: To organize Hsinchu City Marathon 2020 and arrange insurance coverage.
  2. Types of personal information gathered: name, ID card number, contact number, registered address, ID card, e-mail, portrait and video footage.
  3. Duration, location, and method by which personal information is used:
  4. Duration: Personal information will be retained for the duration needed to serve the underlying purpose, or for the duration required by law or contract, or for the period of time needed to conduct business activities.
  5. Location: All areas where promotional activities take place.
  6. Subjects:

    Main and secondary organizers of this event, correspondence banks, outsourcees, foreign recipients of personal information that are not under supervision of the centralized authority, and any institutions or financial supervisory agencies vested with investigative authorities. Joint marketing or cooperative partners of the organizer.

  1. Methods: Information shall be used via automated as well as non-automated methods.
  2. Pursuant to Article 3 of the Personal Information Protection Act, you may exercise the following rights over your personal information held by the organizer:
  3. The right to review or obtain a duplicate copy, for which the organizer may collect a small fee to cover its costs.
  4. The right to supplement or correct personal information, provided that proper explanation is given.
  5. The right to stop the organizer from further gathering, processing, or use of information, and the right to have personal information deleted from the organizer's database; however, this excludes situations where the organizer is required by law to gather, process or make use of such information.
  6. Impacts for not providing personal information: You are free to decide whether to provide personal information. However, the organizer may not be able to review, process or complete your enrollment, retain your performance record, reward you or make news disclosure properly without the necessary personal information. You hereby confirm having been duly notified of the purposes for which your personal information is gathered, processed and used.
  7. You agree to have your portrait and video recordings displayed by the organizer and its delegates on advertising materials (including but not limited to webpage, Facebook, blog etc.), or used or sold publicly at their discretion. I also waive all rights to make civil and criminal claims against the organizer and its delegates with respect to the abovementioned videos and photos.
